A Glimpse into the Future: Studio 95’s Journey at NTX® AI Hub

Fresh off the plane, with the buzz of jet lag still lingering, the Studio 95 team – Jeong, Kimberly and Samantha – from NTX’s New York design hub arrived in Guangzhou, China, ready to embark on an extraordinary journey. Stepping into the NTX® AI technology hub, they were immediately immersed in a world where cutting-edge technology meets creative fashion design. Despite the fatigue from their travels, their enthusiasm shone-through as they were greeted by NTX’s developer team, eager to explore the AI tools that promised to revolutionize textile design.

Throughout the week, the designers went deep into the AI software, pushing it to its limits and uncovering its vast potential. Jeong, the Design Manager, felt the tool was amazing for generating numerous designs quickly, though it still needed refinement. Kimberly mentioned that it was great at bringing to light really unique ideas. As they became more confident users, their feedback evolved from mere user input to essential contributions shaping the tool to better suit the needs of apparel designers.

By the end of their visit, the potential of the NTX® AI tool in elevating design processes was undeniable. NTX® is optimistic that the collaboration with Studio 95 will be pivotal in driving the AI project forward and envisions Studio 95 leading the charge. It won’t be long before Studio 95 will be using NTX® AI to cement their status as world-class designers in the global fashion arena.

Deep Dive into NTX® Cooltrans® Technology: A Learning Journey

Mariana from Fashion for Good, joined us at the NTX® Cooltrans® facility in Cambodia for the next part of our textile innovation adventure. The gathering, which included the NTX® team led by CIMO Jeff Hsu and the Studio 95 designers, fostered a college-like atmosphere of eager learning.

The educational journey began with a two-day intensive session. On the first day, ‘Professor’ Jeff Hsu meticulously presented the theory behind NTX® Cooltrans® technology. His passion for sustainable textile innovation was evident as he demystified its complex science. Mariana and the Studio 95 team showed particular interest in the types of materials suitable for this sustainable technology, noting the increasing value placed on sustainable practices, especially among younger generations.

The next day brought theory to life during the tour of the NTX® Cooltrans® facility. Witnessing the technology in action was enlightening. Mariana noted the value of experiencing the technology firsthand. Jeong, having previously visited traditional dyeing facilities, was really impressed by the odorless aspects of the NTX® Cooltrans®  facility, and expressed eagerness to see its application expand to a broader range of textile coloration.

The Cambodian Experience Continued: Visiting Luen Thai’s LEED Gold Garment Facility

Our adventure through the world of textile innovation took an enlightening turn as we ventured to the Luen Thai apparel manufacturing facility in Cambodia, a key destination where the output from the NTX® facility is brought to life. This facility, renowned for being the first in Cambodia to achieve LEED Gold status, serves as a beacon of sustainable manufacturing. As we explored the premises, it became clear how the innovative practices we witnessed at NTX® seamlessly integrate into the larger apparel production process. The XO Tex Industrial Co Ltd factory, producing garments for international sports brands, exemplifies eco-friendly manufacturing with its energy-efficient systems and solar photovoltaic installation, significantly reducing its carbon footprint.

But the surprises at Luen Thai didn’t end with its sustainable infrastructure. One of the most remarkable features was a football field perched atop the facility’s roof, where the children of employees were being trained by a European-imported coach. This unique perk for the employees has fostered a formidable football club, symbolizing the facility’s commitment to community and employee well-being. Witnessing this blend of sustainability, innovation, and employee care provided a holistic view of the modern apparel industry.

From Past to Future: The Stark Contrast of Textile Manufacturing”

Our journey through Cambodia revealed the stark realities of the textile industry’s past. As we passed traditional manufacturing sites, their outdated methods cast a shadow over our journey. These facilities, relics of an era long gone, were marred by steam emissions, puddles of waste, and a general sense of decay. It was a sobering reminder of the industry’s inefficient and environmentally harmful practices. In stark contrast, our arrival at the NTX® Cooltrans® facility felt like stepping into a new world. Here, we found a beacon of progress: a facility that was clean, efficient, and sustainable. This striking juxtaposition served not only as a testament to NTX’s innovative approach but also as a powerful reminder of the industry’s urgent need to evolve from its unsustainable past to a more responsible and eco-friendly future.

As our journey concluded, the experiences at NTX’s facilities and the interactions among Mariana, the NTX® team including the Studio 95 designers fostered a newfound sense of partnership and teamwork. Meeting in person and witnessing the technologies firsthand not only deepened our understanding of the resources available but also strengthened our working relationships. This visit has laid a solid foundation for future collaborations, where shared knowledge and experiences will drive us towards more innovative and sustainable practices in the fashion industry. It’s clear that by working together, understanding each other’s capabilities and needs, we can achieve greater heights, making a significant impact in the world of fashion and beyond.
